Top News – Main Event Kicks Off, Full Tilt For Sale
The biggest, the longest and the most popular poker tournament of them all – the World Series of Poker has reached its final stage with almost all of the events, except one finished and with 55 bracelets out of 58 already given away. However, the last part is the most exciting – the 2011 WSOP Main Event kicked off yesterday and will run until July 19th. Long after all the other events are over, the Main Event will see thousands of players at the tables in pursuit of the world's most prestigious poker trophy – the Main Event bracelet.

And so the 42nd annual World Series of Poker has reached its midway point which means we're half way there to the most important poker tournament of the year – the 2011 WSOP Main Event. However, that's still a month away so we will just wait until the right moment to fill your heads with all the blabbering. Especially when we have some interesting World Series news to report about the things that are happening at the moment (or at least happened in the past week).

The last two weeks were full of action at the poker tables. Having in mind that the biggest poker festivity of the year, the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas is taking place as we speak, stating otherwise would simply mean lying.

So, of course, the biggest news of the week is that the 42nd annual World Series of Poker has finally kicked-off on Tuesday. However, one person, that you're all familiar with had stole WSOP's thunder by announcing he was not going to play the tournament due to Full Tilt Poker not making payouts to their users and filed a law suit against Tiltware – Tilt's software and marketing company.

It was not the week that one could call good for online poker, actually, it was quite the contrary. It started with the second part of Black Friday – the Blue Monday, 10 online poker and betting domains were seized along with 11 back accounts and 3 people were indicted. Among the ten domains was a well-known online poker site – DoylesRoom. Suddenly Brunson parting with the room made much more sense.

More than a month had passed since the events of 04.15 and the world of online poker is healing its wounds and trying to recover after one of the biggest impacts it had to experience in the short years of its existence. And while the US-based poker players are getting their funds back from PokerStars and waiting for the same to happen at Full Tilt, UB and Absolute, poker is still played both live and online and players are trying to adjust to the changed conditions.

There's been a lot of action in the online poker world since Black Friday – most of the poker sites that were operating in the United States either seized serving American players or they stopped accepting new users from the States. The biggest poker news of the week came on Friday, unfortunately this was not happy news. The United States Department of Justice along with the FBI and the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York have banned four of the biggest online poker sites operating in the US – PokerStars, Full Tilt, UB and Absolute Poker. In addition, the founders of these websites have been charged with serious criminal activities – two of the defendants were arrested, the warrants for nine more have been issued.
