    The biggest, the longest and the most popular poker tournament of them all – the World Series of Poker has reached its final stage with almost all of the events, except one finished and with 55 bracelets out of 58 already given away. However, the last part is the most exciting – the 2011 WSOP Main Event kicked off yesterday and will run until July 19th. Long after all the other events are over, the Main Event will see thousands of players at the tables in pursuit of the world's most prestigious poker trophy – the Main Event bracelet.

    So, of course, the biggest news of the week is that the 42nd annual World Series of Poker has finally kicked-off on Tuesday. However, one person, that you're all familiar with had stole WSOP's thunder by announcing he was not going to play the tournament due to Full Tilt Poker not making payouts to their users and filed a law suit against Tiltware – Tilt's software and marketing company.

    It was not the week that one could call good for online poker, actually, it was quite the contrary. It started with the second part of Black Friday – the Blue Monday, 10 online poker and betting domains were seized along with 11 back accounts and 3 people were indicted. Among the ten domains was a well-known online poker site – DoylesRoom. Suddenly Brunson parting with the room made much more sense.

    The biggest poker news of the week came on Friday, unfortunately this was not happy news. The United States Department of Justice along with the FBI and the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York have banned four of the biggest online poker sites operating in the US – PokerStars, Full Tilt, UB and Absolute Poker. In addition, the founders of these websites have been charged with serious criminal activities – two of the defendants were arrested, the warrants for nine more have been issued.

Erik Seidel broke the record after winning the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, adding $750,000 to his lifetime tournament winnings and climbing to the #1 spot in poker's all-time money list with a total of $14.7 million in his account.
