Top News – Chili Reinvent Online Poker, WSOP Announce Rematches

This week there's been some poker action both live and online and some of it is still going on, to tell you all about it is OnlinePoker10's new edition of Top News. First we've got the results from the Slovakian capital Bratislava where a World Poker Tour event took place. We also have the mid-way chip counts from the EPT event that's currently underway in Berlin, Germany where during Day 3 the Frenchman Fabrice Soulier is leading the field with more than 1 million in chips.

In online news we'll tell you about the biggest blast of the week – Chili Poker inventing a new way of connecting online poker with social networks and making one's online poker experience more integrated into their social life. Wee will also take a look at the announcement of WSOP rematches that will take place during the 2011 World Series of Poker and feature some of the most memorable WSOP final heads-up battles.

Another One for Romanello

You all know the Welsh poker player and the Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Roberto Romanello, right? So you should also know that just a couple of days ago Roberto Romanello scored his second major poker title by winning the World Poker Tour Bratislava Main Event. You must also recall him winning the EPT event in Prague last December – looks like the Eastern part of Europe is a lucky place for the young Welshman.

Before the last stage of the tournament, Romanello was leading the final table with the highest pile of chips by his side which he managed to maintain throughout the last day of the WPT Bratislava. The nine-handed final table went down to the heads-up battle between Romanello and Mayu Roca from Colombia just a few hours after it's start. However, it took just a few more to sort things out between the two. The final hand saw Romanello holding pocket fives whereas Roca had ace-king. The board didn't complement Roca and Romanello's pair brought him the title along with the €140,000 ($200,000) cash prize and the WPT trophy.

These are the final WPT Bratislava results:

1. Roberto Romanello - €140,685
2. Mayu Roca - €71,000
3. Alexander Jager - €42,000
4. Frank Dollinger - €33,000
5. Jesper Hoog - €26,000
6. Chris Williamson - €21,000
7. Bodo Sbrzesny - €17,000
8. Marek Tatar - €14,000
9. Lubomir Kudlicka - €11,000

Chili Poker Connects

Last week the poker world was buzzing with the rumor about Chili Poker launching something new and very cool and now it's been finally revealed. Just a week ago Chili Poker started spreading hints about the new stuff they're going to launch in the near future – something that the online poker world had never seen before, something unique and amazing. Here's what's been said about it just before it's been made official:

“For all of the billions of dollars online poker companies have made in the last decade this has to be one of the biggest innovations in online poker that I've seen other than Rush Poker,” said the mysterious B (which latter appeared to be the poker blogger Bill Rini).

“A great execution of a good idea that proves that even in the restricted environment of a shared software network, there’s plenty of room for immersive innovation. I've seen the idea in play before, but not to this extent. And not this well balanced,” stated another mysterious person named K.

And so just 3 days ago it all came out into the daylight under the name of Chiliconnect. The new feature which allows Chili Poker players share their online poker experience on the most popular social network sites including Facebook and Twitter, post results online directly from the poker software, make side bets with their friends and do all the other cool stuff.

“Carefully listening to our players, we understood that online poker players wanted to enjoy the same experience as in land-based events. We decided to add this social experience online, alongside a unique real-money challenging system. More than ever, our mantra ‘Spice Up Your Game’ is true... We are not the biggest poker company but we want to be the most innovative in the coming months and become the favorite alternative online poker room for every poker player,” said the founder of Chili Poker, Alexandre Dreyfus.

And here's a not-so-long video about all the new things you get on Chiliconnect:

It's Rematch Time !

The most memorable moments of the World Series of Poker will come to life again this summer. Those to visit this year's WSOP will be able to watch a bit of the legendary poker action live featuring the legends themselves. Chis Moneymaker and Sam Farha will meet in a heads-up battle '03 style to relive the atmosphere of the firs-ever online qualifier winning the Main Event. However, this will also be the chance for Sam Farha to redeem himself as the the rematch will be played in a best two-out-of-three format and the original 2003 winner will not necessarily succeed this time.

Another former final table will be played between Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth who were the last two at the 1989 final table, this one will be decided in just one match-up. Third and the last rematch will be chosen from the list of four by the WSOP fans. The vote starts on May 2 on the WSOP facebook page. If you want to vote for your favorite final WSOP battle, like the World Series on facebook and vote for your favorite!
