Top News – Poker Goes Mobile, Vamplew Scores Again
Another week has passed which means it's time to put all the poker news and events which happened in the last 7days in one place to bring you the Top News of the 41st week of the year 2010. Switch Poker – ever hear of it? If you're not a poker fan with an iPhone, then you most probably didn't. However, as iPhones become a necessity, it's bound to make a name for itself, because Switch Poker have launched the first real money poker app for iPhones. Full Tilt, on their part decided to treat their most special Black Card members with a little treat – Rush Poker Mobile. It doesn't run o iPhones, only Android devices, but it's still a nice touch.

In not-so-mobile news we've got David Vamplew (again!) who appears to have scored twice in two days – just after his EPT win he managed to outplay all the UKIPT winners the day after. Charles Moore won the WSOP-C event in Horseshoe Southern Indiana and one of this year's most intriguing poker promotions – Party Poker's Drive the Dream saw a 19-year old polish kid with no driver's license win a brand new Aston Martin DB9 Coupe.

Switch to iPhone

Switchpoker.com – an online poker site that you never heard of before was the first one to launch real money games on iPhone and other portable Mac devices. So now if you want to play real money poker on your iPad, iPod or iPhone, Switch Poker is the place to go. A new poker site is going to fill the void which appeared the same day people started to feel they're missing something one their iPhones – real money poker. “Since the iPhone was launched, there have been calls by poker fans for a place to play poker on it,” Conor McCarthy, co-founder of SawadeeSoft said.

SawadeeSoft Limited is a company behind Switch Poker, which apart from developing a real money poker application for Mac devices had to overcome another challenge – put the app on the iPhone. Because Apple doesn't allow real-money poker games in its App store, Switch Poker developed a website which can be reached by using a browser allowing poker players enjoy their game for real.

Unfortunately, the new poker room is not US-friendly, so American iPhone and poker fans will have to wait their turn. However, those who live in other parts of the world with the ability to access and play online poker with no restrictions are free to visit Switchpoker.com and play No-Limit Hold'em with buy-ins ranging from €0.20 to €1,000.

Rush Poker for Androids

And talking about poker on phones, Full Tilt have launched Rush Poker on Android phones for their Black Card members. The beta version of Rush Poker Mobile has been recently introduced and the only ones that can enjoy it are Black Card members. It's not easy to get Full Tilt's Black Card as you need to generate an average of 500 points a day in a 100-day period. People say that if you do, they send you the real card into your real mailbox and then you get to enjoy the special treatment, like Rush Poker on your Android phone.

However, unlike Switch Poker, Full Tilt's Rush does not support iPhones, only mobile devices running Android 2.2, but the good thing is that since Full Tilt is a US-friendly room, the service should be available to American players. And as Rush Poker offers a fast poker-gaming experience it should not make you switch to Facebook while you wait for your opponent to act.

Vamplew: 2 Days – 2 Scores

We already told you about David Vamplew winning the EPT title a week ago, however, it appears that the very next day the 23-year old Scotsman scored again – this time beating 8 UKIPT season 1 winners. The Champion of Champions event which took place a day after the EPT London final table included the winners of all eight United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour season 1 event and the winner of EPT London – David Vamplew.

However, none of the UK and Ireland's best – Padraig Parkinson, Joeri Zandvliet, Gilles Augustus, Andy Couldridge, Femi Fakinle, Jamie Burland, Nick Abou Risk or Max Silver were able to stop the young Scot from scoring the second big win in just two days time. “It's pretty good; after yesterday, it's the icing on the cake,” Vamplew said. As the main prize for wining the event he received a seat in every UKIPT Main Event in Season 2.

Drive the Dream with No License

Party Poker have been promoting their exclusive Drive the Dream promo giving away a new Aston Martin DB9 Coupe as the main prize for quite awhile now, and finally the tournament saw its winner. A 19-year old Marek Sosnowski from Poland, an online qualifier outplayed everyone at the final table and received the keys to the dream car. However, what was not planned by Party was that the winner would not have his driver's license, hence would not make a use of the big prize. The problem was sold very rationally – according to the PartyPoker pro Tony G, Sosnowski took the money instead of the car.

These are the rest of the winners and their prizes:

1. Marek Sosnowski (Poland) – 2010 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe
2. Bob Gipson (UK) – Lamborghini Extreme Driving Academy Package
3. Gregor Wojtowicz (Germany) – Ferrari Driving Experience Package
4. Araujo Nunes (Brazil) – Porsche Sport Driving School Package Donaldson
5. Davide Altea (Italy) – F1 Grand Prix Brazil Package (Sao Paulo)
6. Michal Wawer (Poland) – F1 Grand Prix Santander D’Italia Package (Monza)
7. Rodney Jones (UK) – $4,000
8. Christian Altrogge (Germany) – $3,000
9. Rizwan Patel (UK) – $2,000

And here's a short video telling you how it all happened:

Woody Owns the Circuit

The biggest live tournament of the week took place in Indiana and it was World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event. Three days of play, 289 contenders and only one winner – Charles "Woody" Moore. Not only did he receive the WSOP-C title and the grand prize of $99,878 in American money, but also got the ticket to the National Championship next Spring along with the chance to win a real-live WSOP bracelet.

The final heads-up battle for the trophy featured two final-tableists of this season's first Circuit event in Council Bluffs, Iowa – Kevin Calenzo and Charles Moore. Woody was the chip leader from the beginning of the play and kept hold of his pile throughout the game, whereas Calenzo was the underdog starting the day only second from the bottom. However, he managed to climb all the way up to the second place and stay there up until the final hand. Calenzo received $61,725 for his efforts and went home to practice some more poker before the next event.

Poker + Tennis

Big online poker sites like signing sponsorship deals with famous (or sometimes not so much) poker players and other celebrities. This time the online poker giant Full Tilt Poker have announced the signing of a top tennis star James Blake who filled the “Friends of Full Tilt” roster. Although he's currently 107th in the tennis rankings, just 4 years ago he was the 4th player in the world with 15 career tennis titles, numerous grand slam appearances and other big on-court achievements. Apart from being famous in tennis, Blake is also known for being voted the world's sexiest athlete in the People's 2002 Sexiest Man Alive issue and finishing second on the 2ndseason of Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. And that's about what anyone should be if they want to join Team Full Tilt under the celebrity status.

So that's about it this week – thank you for joining and be sure to visit OnlinePoker10 next week for more of Top News.
