Top News – Poker Taught in High School, Rousso's Lamborghini on eBay

Lots of news this week: EPT Barcelona has a new champion – a 22-year old (they just keep getting younger and younger) from Stockholm Sweden busted five of his final table opponents to get the €825,000 first-place cash prize. Last week we told you about Peter Eastgate selling his WSOP bracelet on eBay and now you can get yourself a pre-owned Lamborghini Gallardo which used to be Vanessa Rousso's ride. We will also tell you about a new and very exciting way to learn math at school by playing poker with your teacher and fellow students. Some mobile poker news is also on the list as is PKR and their score in the 2010 E-Gaming Review Awards.

Lundmark Takes Down EPT Barcelona

The young gun from Sweden, Kent Lundmark became the member of the EPT champions club last week when he won his carrier-first major poker title at the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Barcelona. The final 8 came to the table on Saturday afternoon and after 9 hours of play they've had a winner. Lundmark himself busted 5 of his opponents making the victory even more deserved.

The first ones to go off the felt were Francesco Notaro and Georgios Skotadis who lost their final battles to Jesus Cortes Lizano and Thor Stang respectively. But from that moment is was all about Lundmark. He sent home the rest of the field himself leaving no doubt who's the most worthy of the title.

Stang, Giuseppe Pantaleo and Shander de Vries all went down from Lundmark's hand. After two more hours Konstantin Puchkov the winner of the H.O.R.S.E event and the bracelet at this year's WSOP also had to hit the rail when his set of kings fell to Lundmark's flush. And although the heads-up battle between the young swede and Spaniard Lizano began with Lundmark being just a little ahead of his opponent, he remained in control the whole time and after 90 minutes all of Lizano's chips were in the Lundmark's pile.

Lizano got €525,000 as a runner-up prize where as Kent Lundmark won his first major poker title and collected €825,000 first-place cash prize.

These are the 201 PokerSatrs.com EPT Barcelona standings after the final table:

1. Kent Lundmark – €825,000
2. Jesus Cortes Lizano – €525,000
3. Konstantin Puchkov – €300,000
4. Shander de Vries – €222,000
5. Giuseppe Pantaleo – €170,000
6. Thor Stang – €130,000
7. Georgios Skotadis – €90,000
8. Francesco Notaro – €70,000

As always, our friends at the PokerNews live reporting team were there and made this interview with the winner, check it out:

Gallardo for Xmas?

It seems that selling precious things on eBay has become a thing among poker pros, and not only those won at the tables are being put on auction. Last week the 2008 WSOP champion Peter Eastgate sold his bracelet online (although it's still unknown who actually bought it) and Paul “Eskimo” Clark did the same thing just a few days later selling his 1999 WSOP bracelet.

The next expensive item previously owned by a poker pro and now available for purchase on eBay is Vanessa Rousso's 2007 yellow Lamborghini Gallardo. The current bid for the classy car is $126,500 (which is less than Eastgate got for his bracelet), so if you've got a spare hundred grand laying around, you just might want to get yourself this baby. We would definitely enjoy boasting about driving Vanessa Rousso's Gallardo, wouldn't you?

The add says that there are only 5,000 cars like it in the world, it's got 12,875 miles on it and comes with a computer, iPod and USB connections, heated mirrors, and hand-knitted seats – a perfect early Christmas gift!

And here's a very nice photo of Rousso's Lamborghini Gallardo:

Mobile Poker News

Recently we've been jabbering quite a lot about mobile poker applications and especially about Full Tilt's Rush Poker Mobile. And although last week the launch of the application available to all Full Tilt members has been announced, it appears that some problems have not been avoided. Droid-Life.com say that the app was pulled due to maintenance. “While we are delighted at the success of the Rush Poker Mobile software, due to the software being in beta testing stage, maintenance such as this is often essential,” said an email by Full Tilt's support.

Although the actual reasons for pulling the app after just three days in the market are still unclear, Full Tilt fans with Androids can still enter online poker via their phones. The Rush Poker Mobile version can be accessed through the Droid web browser at https://mobile.fulltiltpoker.com/mobile.

In other mobile news we've got the infamous Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth and his new mobile poker game – Phil Hellmuth's High Stakes Hold'em. The heads-up poker application allows the user to play poker against Hellmuth's virtual self and even get some coaching form one of the most successful poker pros of our time. Multi-player gaming is available as well, plus Hullmuth promised to drop in himself from time to time to play against random players.

“The game is awesome. You can play on-line, off-line, take tips from me – even take me on if you are brave enough. There’s only one Phil Hellmuth and there is only one poker game worth having on your cell phone: Phil Hellmuth’s High Stakes Hold’Em,” were the exact Hellmuth's words describing the new game.

Learn Poker in High School

There are many ways in which people learn and start playing poker. These day's it's mostly online, but in George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia the students are playing poker to learn math and logical reasoning. William Snyder, school's math teacher started a poker club which quickly became one of the students' most favorite extracurricular activities. It's been approved by the school Principal who said that by allowing kids to play poker they “have the opportunity to show them how to play responsibly and to show them how the game relates to their education.”

Some anti-gambling groups have expressed their concerns about poker's effect on young brains, however, the executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, Keith Whyte admitted that “poker can be a teaching tool.”

The school assured that the poker club has strict rules about the game only being used for educational purposes with real money never being used in the process.
